On its path to premium-class electromobility, BMW introduced the 5 Series in 2023, along with an entirely new sedan with an electric motor. The BMW i5 is now available for sale in the Ukrainian market. In addition to its electric drive, the BMW i5 offers customers even more powerful dynamics, an enhanced BMW Curved Display, and support for the long-awaited latest ConnectedDrive system, which functions with the My BMW mobile app.

The BMW i5 immediately captures attention with its successful blend of the elegance characteristic of the 5 Series and a touch of boldness. This electric vehicle has plenty to show off on the road. The front of the new BMW sedan stands out with a modern interpretation of the dual headlights and the recognizable kidney grille. The nearly vertical LED elements in the headlights serve as turn signals and daytime running lights. The BMW kidney grille, which appears to be leaping forward, features optional BMW Iconic Glow contour lighting, making the car stand out at night.

Dynamic A and C pillars on the sides form a sleek silhouette of the body. Contrasting black side skirts give the car a lower appearance, highlighting the excellent aerodynamics of the electric vehicle. The diffuser and air duct elements also create additional visual dynamism, lowering the silhouette close to the road. The high shoulder line conveys sporty emotions from driving, and at the base of the C-pillar is an embossing with the number 5, indicating its belonging to the legendary 5 Series. Four thin horizontal LED elements in the rear lights showcase the future lighting aesthetics of the brand.

The dynamic character of the new sedan can be further enhanced with the optional M Sport Package, M Sport Package Pro, and the M Carbon package, available for the entire 5 Series. The range of paint finishes already includes three BMW Individual paints at the market launch.

Driving Pleasure Combined with an Innovative Approach

The BMW i5 Series offers ideal conditions for enjoying daily drives and a high level of comfort during long journeys. Its spacious interior, modern functionality, high acoustic comfort, high-quality materials, fine craftsmanship, and advanced digital services characterize the atmosphere inside.

The interior of the BMW i5, like the new 5 Series, features significantly fewer buttons and controls compared to its predecessor. This has been achieved through the digitization of functions. The BMW Curved Display conveys the brand's characteristic driver-oriented philosophy. The fully digital display system consists of a 12.3-inch information display and a 14.9-inch control display. An additional BMW interaction bar is another highlight. The functional block, with striking backlighting and a crystalline surface structure, extends across the entire dashboard to the doors, including touch control panels.

The comfortable seats offer a wide range of electric adjustments. The BMW 5 Series comes standard with a fully vegan interior, which includes seat surfaces, instrument panel, door panel trims, and the steering wheel. Seat surfaces in the Veganza version, with leather-like properties, are also optionally available with decorative perforation. Additional optional equipment includes BMW Individual Merino leather upholstery in several two-tone variants.

Notable is the fixed panoramic glass roof, which creates an atmosphere filled with light and spaciousness. Compared to the previous 5 Series, the viewable area is 90% larger, providing a light and airy feeling even in cloudy weather. From the outside, it appears as a seamless glass roof. The Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system with 17 speakers is responsible for the acoustic system in the BMW i5.

The fully electric BMW i5 is equipped with significantly enhanced fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology and is available in two variants. The BMW i5 M60 xDrive (combined power consumption according to WLTP: 20.6 - 18.2 kWh/100 km) combines power of up to 442 kW/601 hp with outstanding M performance and specific design features. Two highly integrated drives on the front and rear axles form the electric all-wheel drive. The system torque reaches up to 820 Nm when the M Sport Boost or M Launch Control function is activated. This allows the BMW i5 M60 to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, with its top speed electronically limited to 230 km/h.

Also available is the BMW i5 eDrive40 (combined power consumption according to WLTP: 18.9–15.9 kWh/100 km). Its electric motor drives the rear wheels and provides a maximum power of 250 kW/340 hp and maximum torque of up to 430 Nm with the Sport Boost or Launch Control function. The BMW i5 eDrive40 accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 6.0 seconds, with a top speed of 193 km/h.

A compact high-voltage battery is located in the lower part of the body and provides useful energy of 81.2 kWh. In addition to efficient electric motors, the latest version of adaptive recuperation and an intelligent combination of heat pump technology for heating and cooling the cabin, drive, and high-voltage battery contribute to a long range. The heat generated by the electric motors is used to control the temperature of the high-voltage energy required for preheating on the way to a fast-charging station. An optimized cooling strategy during DC charging further enhances the longevity of the high-voltage battery. The implementation of phases of complete and partial cooling of the battery during fast charging prevents "overcooling." This also increases the potential for shorter charging times and reduces battery cell aging.

The My BMW app, together with the ConnectedDrive system, is now available for BMW customers in Ukraine. The app facilitates seamless communication between the driver and the vehicle. It can be used for route planning and sending navigation destinations directly to the car's navigation system. Additionally, within the My BMW app, customers can quickly schedule service appointments, monitor real-time vehicle status, and receive the latest BMW news. Are you in a hurry? Drivers can remotely lock and unlock doors or, while leaving the office, pre-condition the cabin for cooling or heating based on weather and preferences. Importantly, the functions and capabilities of the My BMW app will continually be updated to ensure customers have access to all ConnectedDrive services.
