In November 2023, AWT Bavaria Ukraine shifted its focus from reconstruction projects to protecting the citizens of Ukraine and critical infrastructure to ensure a safe and warm winter. For this purpose, AWT became the first donor to the UNITED24 "Safe Sky" initiative and purchased 1,000 units of the sensory system for early identification of aerial targets. This amount covered an area of 30,000 km² (approximately the size of Belgium) in frontline regions. The fundraising was led by Yale University professor Timothy Snyder and publicly supported by other prominent professors from Stanford, Oxford, Harvard, and Cambridge. It was one of the fastest fundraisings closed by UNITED24, amounting to $1 900 000.
